Dragon on The Couch: The Dragon ventured to the theaters to see Licorice Pizza (Theaters), which she found out way too late wasn’t a Barbara Streisand biopic. She thought it was very good, but not as great as Berto thought it was. Dragon next watched The Tragedy of Macbeth (Apple TV+/Theaters), which was in the original old English and she therefore found very boring and hard to follow. Finally, she talked about one episode of Generation Hustle, S1E3 “The Many Lives of Jeremy Wilson” (HBO), which was about a conman. She enjoyed the series, but specifically recommends this episode.
Berto on the Bed: Berto watched the latest Guillermo Del Toro film Nightmare Alley (HBO), he thought it was really good, but it really falls apart the last 30 minutes. Next, Berto watched Hearts in Atlantis (HBO), an adaptation of a Stephen King novella. Berto really enjoyed it, despite previously having no desire to have seen it. Next, he watched Wild Things (Netflix), which he thought was a bad movie, but a perfect example of a late 90’s sexy thriller. Berto discusses WWII in Color: Road to Victory (Netflix), a docuseries which, rather than telling the story of the war as a whole, tells it as a series of smaller stories. Berto really liked it and recommends it for anyone into that topic. Finally, Berto gives a quick recap of what else he’s watched: Mission: Impossible III (Prime) was a good action, spy film; Hellraiser: Bloodline (Paramount +) was not good and seemed very cheap; and Voyage of the Rock Aliens (Tubi) was a musical that was so bad and crazy Berto enjoyed it.
On this week's deep dive, we watched the 2006 action film 300, currently streaming on HBO and Netflix.
