Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon watched American Gigolo (Rent) and thought it was an ok, VERY 80s, movie, but gave it points for full frontal male nudity. She also watched Space Jam: A New Legacy (HBO) which she did not enjoy but thinks maybe kids would???

Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon watched Little Shop of Horrors (HBO) and really enjoyed it, even if some songs are hit or miss for her. She also saw Dressed to Kill (Cinemax or Rent), a pretty ok Brian De Palma film.
Berto on the Bed: Berto's mediocre Prime film of the week was JeruZalem, a movie with a POV gimmick that he thought fell short. He also saw the new Chris Pratt action movie The Tomorrow War (Prime), which seemed like an entire trilogy crammed into a single film. Lastly, he watched The Last King of Scotland (Prime), and felt Forest Whitaker's Oscar was well-deserved.
Dragon at the Movies: This week's deep dive is the 2000 Japanese cult classic Battle Royale, now streaming on Prime and Tubi (both with ads).

Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon watched the Danish dark comedy Riders of Justice (Rent) - starring her favorite Hannibal, Mads Mikkelsen - and loved it. She also saw the new Pixar film Luca (Disney+) and thought it was pretty cute. Lastly, she revisited Donnie Darko (Rent or Tubi) and didn't feel like the film lived up to her early 2000s memory of it.
Berto on the Bed: Berto watched Reign of Fire (Prime), an early 2000s action/fantasy film that fell flat, he felt a lot more could have been done with the premise. He also dove back into the Korean cinema well and watched Memories of Murder (Hulu), he liked the movie but thought the ending was lacking. Lastly, he watched Guillermo del Toro's film Crimson Peak (Netflix), which he thought was a beautifully made film, even if the story was just ok.
Dragon at the Movies: This week's deep dive was the 1971 children's classic Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (HBO).

Episode 43 - Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge

Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon watched Plan B (Hulu) and highly recommends this sweet, funny movie about teenage female friendship and pregnancy avoidance. The Dragon also saw In The Heights (HBO, theatres), the Lin-Manuel Miranda musical movie that she thought was fine - didn't love it, didn't hate it.
Berto on the Bed: Berto watched In the Heights as well, and felt similarly, he didn't love it but acknowledged it was not for him as a person that generally hates musicals. And Berto's gonna Berto, so he saw Jennifer's Body (Hulu), which he thought was a forgettable middling horror movie with an A list cast, and Thirst (Hulu), a Korean vampire movie starring the lead from Parasite, which he loved.
Also mentioned: Scream Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street (AMC, Shudder), the documentary about the making of Nightmare on Elm Street 2.
Dragon at the Movies: This week's deep dive was the Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, currently streaming on HBO.

Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon takes a trip down memory lane re-watching Jurassic Park (for rent), she talks about how the film is still amazing and the effects are only now starting to become noticeable. She also went to the theater to see The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do it (theaters/HBO MAX), which she enjoyed watching but admits isn’t a great film.
Berto on the Bed: Berto also watched the latest Conjuring film, which he said was very forgettable, but had some things he enjoyed. He also went to the theater to see A Quiet Place II (Theatres) which he thought was good, but not enjoyable because of the logical leaps he realized he had to take to stick with the plot. Finally, Berto watched a silly film called Killer Sofa (Amazon Prime) which is a campy film about… well, a killer sofa, which he found a bit enjoyable.
Dragon at the Movies: This week’s deep dive is the 2011 slasher thriller You’re Next, currently streaming on Hulu.

Episode 41 - Face/Off
Wednesday Jun 09, 2021
Wednesday Jun 09, 2021
Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon rewatched Paranorman (Netflix) for the first time since theatres and thought it was delightful. She also ventured into the theatres and saw A Quiet Place II, which she recognizes is a technically very good movie, but it didn't grab her.
Berto on the Bed: Berto hung out in teenage boy corner and rewatched Predator (Hulu), which he felt holds up very well. He also watched the animated superhero series Invincible (Prime), which he liked a surprising amount for a cartoon.
Dragon at the Movies: This week's deep dive is the classic 1997 Jon Woo/John Travolta/Nic Cage thriller Face/Off.

Episode 40 - Twister
Wednesday Jun 02, 2021
Wednesday Jun 02, 2021
Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon came back from a long weekend visiting family and finished the HBO crime drama miniseries Mare of Easttown, which she felt was well acted and recommends.
Berto on the Bed: On the Dragon's recommendation, Berto watched Army of the Dead (Netflix) and thought it was a dumb action movie that people shouldn't have expected much from. He also watched Greenland (HBO), which was an end-of-the-world Gerard Butler drama he enjoyed.
Dragon at the Movies: This week's deep dive was the 1996 disaster action movie Twister, currently streaming on HBO.

Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon stayed on the couch and watched the Netflix original Bad Trip, a narrative movie with a hidden camera/prank gimmick that she actually enjoyed. She also watched one of her childhood favorites, Tremors (rent or Starz), which she was pleasantly surprised held up.
