Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon spent her weekend in the theatre and saw the comedy Shiva Baby (limited theatrical release and rent on Prime), which she thought was very funny and had a perfect 77 minute runtime. She also saw Army of the Dead (theatres and on Netflix 5/21/2021), the new Zack Snyder zombie movie. The Dragon liked it fine, even though it's INCREDIBLY long - 2 hours and 28 minutes.
Berto on the Bed: Berto watched Songbird (Hulu), a pandemic-centered film set in a near future with Covid-23. He felt it was a completely useless film and suggested skipping. He also watched Ghost Team One (Prime), a horror comedy he enjoyed.
Dragon at the Movies: This week's deep dive was Ari Aster's damn near perfect 2019 horror drama Midsommar, now streaming on Amazon Prime.

Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon is back in theaters and saw the 2021 Jason Statham action movie Wrath of Man (in theaters only). The script was bad but it was exactly the kind of fun, dumb action movie we've come to know and love.
Berto on the Bed: Berto watched Boss Level (Hulu), a Groundhog's Day style action movie and thought it was dumb but fun. He also watched Tenet (HBO), a Christopher Nolan film he felt was needlessly complicated but with some really interesting concepts and action pieces.
This week's deep dive is the 2014 Christian drama God's Not Dead, currently streaming on HBO.

Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon was in her Morbid Corner this week and watched the four-part docuseries Murder on Middle Beach (HBO). She liked it well enough, but was disappointed in real life with the end of the series.
Berto on the Bed: Berto watched Mortal Kombat (HBO and in theaters) and did not feel like watching the film was worth it, though he thought the opening scene was strong. The Dragon and Andrew saw the movie in theaters and both enjoyed the experience well enough.
Andrew's Perfectly Curated Moving Going Experience: Andrew watched Class of 1984, which is available on Prime, though he watched it as presented by Joe Bob Briggs' on The Last Drive-In (Shudder). He loved the movie and recommends it if you are into violent 80s exploitation films.
This week's deep dive was chosen by our special guest, Andrew! It is the 1994 Kevin Smith black and white filmmaking debut, Clerks (HBO).

Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon watched the 1994 goth tween fantasy movie The Crow (HBO) and wished she had seen it at her peak tween angst period, but still liked it.
Berto on the Bed: Berto had a busy week and discussed the 2019 documentary Apollo 11 (Hulu). He loved the documentary and the way the footage and editing makes you question your own knowledge about the outcome of this real life event.

Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon revisited two movies she enjoyed quite a bit: the fun 2009 Sam Raimi horror film Drag Me To Hell (Peacock or Rent) and the 2012 Harmony Korine crime drama featuring James Franco, Spring Breakers (Showtime or Rent).
Berto on the Bed: Berto watched The New Mutants (HBO) and was underwhelmed at this forgettable superhero movie. He also read (listened to) the book Japan's Infamous Unit 731 (Audible). He enjoyed it and gave us a helpful content warning regarding rampant torture.
This week's deep dive was the 1997 Paul Thomas Anderson classic look into the 70s porn industry, Boogie Nights (HBO).

Berto on the Bed: Berto watched the brand new comedy/action movie Thunder Force (Netflix). Berto thought the movie was fine, but enjoyed it whenever Melissa McCarthy (national treasure) was on screen.
Also mentioned: WWE show Total Divas (Hulu), the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody (Fubo, FX), the documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston (Rent only).

Dragon at the Movies: The Dragon rewatched David Lynch's 1986 neo-noir mystery thriller Blue Velvet (Starz or rent) and loved how interesting Lynch's films are, both in story and visually. She also dove back in to Dragon's Morbid Corner (did she ever leave?) and watched the 2021 docuseries Murder Among the Mormons (Netflix), which she thought was an interesting look at the bombing murders in Utah.
Berto on the Bed: Berto watched The Last Blockbuster (Netflix), and enjoyed learning about Blockbuster's eventual bankruptcy and downfall. He also watched Blair Witch (Prime), the 2016 sequel to the original 1999 found footage movie The Blair Witch Project (Netflix). He was surprised the movie actually wasn't terrible.
This week's deep dive is the 2021 sci-fi/action film Godzilla vs Kong (HBO Max).

Dragon at the Movies: The Dragon watched and loved Next in Fashion (Netflix), a new single season Project Runway style reality competition show starring Tan France from Queer Eye. She also watched the Terry Gilliam comedy/adventure movie The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (Hulu), and enjoyed it even if it was a bit too long.
Berto on the Bed: Berto could not say enough good things about WandaVision (Disney+) - a rare moment where Berto actually agrees with the rest of the world. He also watched the four hour #ReleaseTheSnyderCut of Justice League (HBO) and surprisingly liked it.
This week's deep dive is the 1973 folk horror classic The Wicker Man, currently available on Amazon Prime.

Dragon at the Movies: The Dragon watched Me and You and Everyone We Know (Criterion/Rent), the Miranda July mildly absurd slice of life movie that she found delightful. She also watched Once (HBO), the 2007 Irish meet cute modern musical, and thought it was a genuinely nice movie.
Berto on the Bed: Berto watched Last Girl Standing (Prime), a horror movie about the final girl's life after surviving the slasher, and recommends the Dragon watch it. He also watched Secretary (HBO), and felt it was a MUCH better BDSM relationship movie compared to a certain other film...
This week's deep dive is the 1994 action/crime movie The Shadow (HBO).
Wednesday Mar 17, 2021

Wednesday Mar 17, 2021

Dragon at the Movies: The Dragon relives her high school experience by starting the 1994-1995 teen drama My So-Called Life (Hulu). She also watched and highly recommends the (possibly, we won't look it up) Oscar winning movie Minari (available for rent).
Berto on the Bed: Berto watches the movie Compliance (Prime), which is the dramatized real life story of the strip search phone call scam (google it!).
This week's deep dive is the Morgan Freeman/Brad Pitt classic 1995 horror/thriller Se7en (HBO).
